EVENT INFORMATION

What is the Amazing Maritime Challenge (AMC) about?

Organised by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and supported by MaritimeOne Partners, the Amazing Maritime Challenge is part of the Singapore Maritime Week 2019’s public outreach efforts to raise awareness about Maritime Singapore.

The annual event comprises of maritime-related activities and games designed to create a better understanding of the maritime industry among its participants and the general public. Fun and exciting games will be held at various locations in Singapore, so be prepared for a morning of laughter and thrills!

When will AMC 2019 be held?

It will be held on Sunday, 7 April 2019, from 8:00am to 1:00pm.

What are the categories and age limits for AMC 2019?

The race consists of two categories – Open (for general public or with a child between the ages of 12 and 18) and Corporate (team members being employees of the same company).

Where are the Start and Finish points?

Both the Start and Finish points will be held at the Marina Square Outdoor Plaza.

What time does the race start and end?
The race will commence at 8:00am sharp and end by 1:00pm at the Marina Square Outdoor Plaza.

Winners will be notified via their mobile contact number provided during registration by 1:30pm on Event Day.

Would there be special transport arrangements on the race day morning?
No, all participants are to make their own journey to the respective games stations.

Registration

How much is the registration fee?
The registration fee is $5 per team (inclusive of 7% GST) per team of two participants. It includes entry into any event venue that may require payment of an entrance fee on the Event Day.

Registration is available on first-come, first-served basis. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and the Event Management Company reserve the rights to close registration before the deadline once the quotas are full without prior notice.

How do I register?

All registrations will be handled online at the Amazing Maritime Challenge registration portal, at https://theamazingmaritimechallenge.com/.

When can I register?

The online registration portal opens on Thursday, 14 March 2019, 10:00am and closes on Friday, 5 April 2019, 11:59pm. Registrations made outside of the stipulated period will not be entertained.

How many people should there be in one team?

Each team will consist of two participants.

How many categories are there?

There are two categories: Open and Corporate.

If you are signing up as a member of the general public or with a child between the ages of 12 and 18, please register under the Open category.

If you are signing up as a company, with both team members being employees of the same company, please register under the Corporate category.

How do I make payment for the registration?

Payment can be made via Visa/MasterCard at the registration portal at the time of registration.

Who can participate in AMC 2019?

The race is open to anyone aged 12 years or older as of 7 April 2019.
However, any child aged between 12 and 18 years of age (both ages inclusive) as of 7 April 2019 must be accompanied by an adult aged 21 years and above as of 7 April 2019, in the same team. Such teams must be registered under the Open Category.

Employees of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, persons involved in the organisation or execution of the Event (including advertising and promotional agencies), and all immediate family members of such persons are not eligible to participate in the Event.

What does the registration fee include?
An official Event T-shirt, Race Bib and a drawstring bag with sports towel, cap, foldable fan, poncho and energy bar. Participants who have completed the race will also be given a Finisher T-shirt.

When and where can I collect my Resource Pack?
Resource Pack Collection starts from 6:30am to 7:30am on the Event Day, Start/Finish Point at Marina Square Outdoor Plaza.

Would it be possible to change the size of the Event T-shirt?
No, changing of sizes of the apparels will not be available once your registration details are submitted and completed. Please select your size preference based on the sizing chart as provided at the point of registration. Size and quantity will be made available on a first-come-first-served basis and while stocks last.

Event T-Shirt & Race Bib Collection

When and where can I collect the Event T-shirt & Race Bib

Collection Date: Sunday, 7th April 2019

Collection Time: 6:30am – 7:30am

Venue: Marina Square Outdoor Plaza

What do I have to bring along to collect the Event T-shirt & Race Bib?

Only one representative from each team is required to collect the Event T-shirt & Race Bib for the entire team. The representative must present the following documents for the collection:

  1. NRIC or Photo ID for verification purposes; and
  2. A printout or electronic copy of the email confirmation that was sent to the team upon successful registration.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and the Event Management Company reserve the rights to turn away participants who fail to present the required documents for collection.

For Teams Who Are Unable to Collect In Person
If none of the team members are available to collect the Event T-shirt & Race Bib, you may authorise a representative to do so on your behalf. The representative will need to produce the following documents:

  • A copy of any team member’s NRIC or Photo ID for verification and a printout of that particular team member’s email confirmation upon registration.
  • The representative will have to present his/her own NRIC or Photo ID and authorization form for recording purposes. The representative’s particulars will be taken down for record purposes.

On the Event Day

Do I have to arrive early or do any pre-race registration?

Yes, participants are to arrive at the Start Point (Marina Square Outdoor Plaza) at 6:30am to collect your Resource Packs, which will contain race essentials.

What do I have to bring along to collect my Resource Pack?

Participants are to wear the official Event T-shirt & Race Bib on the morning of Event Day. Please remember to put the Race Bib on your chest clearly, and ensure that it is visible at all times during the race to allow the race officials to identify your Race Bib number. It is mandatory for all team members to collect their Resource Packs on 7 April 2019.

Team members must bring along the following to collect their Resource Packs:

  1. NRIC or Photo ID; and
  2. Race bib.

Team members will not be allowed to collect the Resource Pack on behalf of the other team member.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and the Event Management Company reserve the rights to refuse participants without the required documents for collection.

How do participants complete the Amazing Maritime Challenge?

Games stations will be located at various locations featuring maritime-themed activities and games.

There will be game stations at selected locations, featuring maritime-themed games. Teams can only begin the game when all members are present. Points will be awarded for correct answers or upon completion of tasks.

All game stations will close at 12:30pm, and the Game Master will close the game station queue at 12:15pm. Participants must cross the Finish line by 1:00pm as a team.

The winning teams will be determined by the following factors in this particular sequence:

  1. Both team members must be present and their Start and Finish time must be captured
  2. Number of stations attempted
  3. Highest total score
  4. Shortest total time taken to complete the race

What do participants have to wear?
Participants are required to wear the official Event T-shirt & Race Bib throughout the entire duration of the race.

Is there a specific route that teams need to take?
No. Teams are encouraged to strategise and plan their own routes when they receive the game locations, after pre-race registration.

Does my entire team have to cross the finish line together?
Yes. Both team members must reach the Finish Point of the challenge together, failing which the team may be disqualified.

Where and when will the Prize Presentation be conducted?
Winners will be notified via their mobile contact number provided during registration by 1.30pm on Event Day (7 April 2019). There will be a prize giving ceremony on Event day at 2pm. Winners are encouraged to attend the prize giving ceremony by reporting to the AMC 2019 official-in-charge by 2.00pm at the Start/Finish Point at Marina Square Outdoor Plaza.

Rules & Regulations

General

MPA shall have absolute discretion in determining the rules and regulations of the Amazing Maritime Challenge 2019 (the “Event”). By participating in the Event, you are deemed to have fully read, understood, and agreed to the following Rules and Regulations stated below:

Eligibility
  1. Participation in the Event is open to anyone aged 12 years or older. For the purposes of the Event, anyone whose 12th birthday occurs on or before 7 April 2019 will be deemed to be 12 years of age and so, eligible for the Event. You must complete an online registration form at the online registration portal to participate in the Event. If you are under 18 years of age as of the date of registration, you must have a parent or guardian to acknowledge on the Parent/Guardian Indemnity Form within the registration. You shall ensure that all forms are filled in to the best of your knowledge and belief and acknowledge that forms that are incomplete, inaccurate, false or not duly endorsed will be rejected by MPA. No rejection notice will be issued.
  2. You must ensure that you are physically fit and in good physical and mental health to participate in the Event as some degree of running is required.
  3. You must satisfy all eligibility criteria for participation in the Event; be in good physical and mental health, and not have any medical, physical, psychological or other health conditions that could affect your participation in the Event; and not use any prohibited drug or substance.
    Registration
  4. Registration period for the event is from 14 March 2019 – 5 April 2019.
  5. There will be no fee refund if you fail to complete your registration by the stipulated deadline. Further, once the email confirmation indicating successful registration has been issued, there will be no refund if you eventually do not take part in the Event for whatsoever reason.
  6. You must register in teams of two only.
  7. Race bibs for the Event are not transferable and may not be resold for monetary gain or any other consideration. MPA reserves the right to disallow participants who have purchased their race bibs without registering for the Event from participating in the Event.
  8. Upon successful registration, you will not be allowed to change the event category under which you have registered, or change the size of the official Event T-shirt you had initially indicated.
    Rules for the Event
  9. All answers to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) above and the questions themselves shall form part of the Rules and Regulations of the Event.
  10. You agree to obey, before, during and after the Event, all directions, instructions and rules for the Event issued by MPA, its contractors, their sub-contractors, and all of these entities’ respective members, officers, employees or agents involved in the organisation, execution or conduct of the Event (collectively, the “Representatives”).
  11. On the Event Day, 7 April 2019, you and your team member must register your attendance at the Start point between 6:30am and 7:30am to collect your Resource Packs. Flag off will take place at 8:00am sharp.
  12. To participate in the games at each station, all members of the team must be present. Participation in any game without both team members present shall be deemed to be invalid and in such event, no points will be awarded to the teams.
  13. From the start till the end of the Event, you are permitted to travel via any mode of transport. Such travel shall solely be at your own cost and expense.
  14. You must wear the official Event T-shirt and race bib allocated to you for the entire duration of the Event. If you are found not wearing the official Event T-shirt or your own race bib, you may be disqualified at the discretion of MPA.
  15. The queues for all game stations will close at 12:15pm sharp and the respective game station will close at 12:30pm. In order to be eligible for the prizes, all team members must cross the Finish Point at Marina Square Outdoor Plaza by 1:00pm, failing which MPA may, in its sole discretion, choose to disqualify the team of that late submission.
  16. Only teams that cross the Finish Point by the stipulated time of 1:00pm will be eligible to collect the finisher T-shirts.
  17. The winning teams will be selected by MPA taking into consideration the following requirements:
    1. Number of stations attempted
    2. Total score
    3. Shortest time taken to complete the race

    Teams in respect of which (i) team members are not present throughout the race (ii) start / finish times are not captured, will be disqualified.”

  18. Winners will be notified via their mobile contact number provided during registration by 1.30pm on Event Day (7 April 2019). There will be a prize giving ceremony on Event day at 2pm. Winners are encouraged to attend the prize giving ceremony by reporting to the AMC 2019 official-in-charge by 2.00pm at the Start/Finish Point at Marina Square Outdoor Plaza.
  19. In order to be eligible for the prize, Participants registered under Corporate category must
    1. Be employees from the same company
    2. Present proof of identification as an employee of the company for verification upon reporting for prize giving ceremony
    General
  20. For the comfort, safety and enjoyment of all participants, organisers and officials, you shall:
    1. respect the property of others (whether such property is private or public);
    2. respect all other participants, organisers and officials;
    3. not engage in discriminatory conduct;
    4. not engage in violent or abusive conduct, whether verbal or physical; and
    5. comply with all requests, instructions and directions given by MPA and its Representatives, and fully co-operate with all authorities and officials.
  21. MPA and its Representatives reserve the right, at any time and at its or their sole discretion, to disqualify and remove you from the Event should they deem it necessary to do so. This includes, but is not limited to the following circumstances:
    1. Where your continued presence would be detrimental to or compromises the safety of the organisers, officials or other participants of the Event;
    2. Where you are deemed to be behaving in a disorderly manner or where such person is exhibiting signs of intoxication;
    3. Where you are wearing or using articles that display signs or logos that are offensive or promote a commercial or political agenda or purpose;
    4. Where you are or have been found to have gained an unfair advantage by cheating or by using any other unfair method over other participants
  22. While every reasonable precaution has been taken by MPA and its Representatives to ensure your safety, you acknowledge and accept that there are risks associated with all activities, whether held indoors or outdoors, and that you shall:
    1. be responsible for your own physical and mental health and well-being;
    2. be responsible for your own medication, including any medication for allergies or chronic conditions, if any;
    3. be responsible for your own safety; and
    4. not hold MPA and its Representatives responsible for any loss, liability or damage, including personal injury and property damage, loss, cost or expense of whatsoever nature that may be sustained during or in connection with your participation in the Event, except in the case of death or personal injury, where the same was caused by the negligence of MPA or its Representatives.
  23. MPA reserves the right at any time to cancel, terminate, modify, suspend or postpone the Event or any part of it and to modify any of its Rules and Regulations (including those regarding prizes, eligibility or judging criteria) at its sole and absolute discretion, without prior notice and without any liability. In such event, every reasonable effort will be made to inform you prior to the date of the Event. MPA shall not be liable for any loss or inconvenience arising out of or in relation to such cancellation, termination, modification, suspension or postponement, including but not limited to registration fees paid or travel expenses incurred by you.
  24. MPA’s decision in all matters and disputes arising out of or in connection with the Event is final and conclusive, and no correspondence regarding the same will be entertained.
  25. You consent to:
    1. the collection, use and disclosure to any third parties of any personal information submitted by you, for purposes directly or indirectly connected with the Event, and for other purposes that are stated in the Rules and Regulations or connected with MPA’s functions;
    2. the taking of photographs or video recordings of your participation during the Event and the use, reposting, reproduction or publication of such photographs or video recordings and any of your social media updates made in connection with the Event by MPA in any manner as it deems fit for the purpose of promoting Maritime Singapore;
    3. receive notifications of events or other publicity materials from MPA or from third parties authorised by MPA, using the contact details provided by you.
  26. In the event of any inconsistency between these Rules and Regulations and any brochures, marketing or promotional materials relating to the Event, these Rules and Regulations, and all their subsequent variations, shall prevail.
