ABOUT THE AMAZING MARITIME CHALLENGE 2018

What is AMC 2018 about?
AMC 2018 is an annual event comprising of games designed to raise public awareness about Maritime Singapore and the maritime industry. Fun and exciting games will be held at various locations in Singapore, so be prepared for a morning of laughter and thrills!

Who can participate in AMC 2018?
The Event is open to anyone aged 12 years or older as of 22 April 2018.

However, any child aged between 12 and 18 years of age (both ages inclusive) as of 22 April 2018 must be accompanied by an adult aged 21 years and above as of 22 April 2018, in the same team. Such teams must be registered under the Open Category.

Employees of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, persons involved in the organisation or execution of the Event (including advertising and promotional agencies), and all immediate family members of such persons are not eligible to participate in the Event.

When will AMC 2018 be held?
It will be held on Sunday, 22 April 2018, from 8:00am to 1:00pm.

Where will AMC 2018 be held?
Both the start and end points will be at Suntec Plaza of Suntec City Mall (outside PasarBella).

What time does AMC 2018 start and end? Event-day registration and resource pack collection begins at 6:30 am on the Event Day, at Suntec Plaza of Suntec City Mall.

The race will commence at 8:00am sharp and end by 1:00pm, at Suntec Plaza of Suntec City Mall. The prize presentation ceremony will be held immediately thereafter.

Registration, Payment & Other Pre-Event Enquiries

How do I register?
Registration must be done at the Amazing Maritime Challenge registration portal.

When can I register?
The online registration portal opens on Wednesday, 4 April 2018 and closes on Tuesday, 17 April 2018, at 11:59 pm. Registrations made outside of the stipulated period will not be entertained.

How many people should there be in one team?
Each team must consist of two participants only. Registrations with more than two participants will be automatically rejected. No notice of rejection will be issued.

How many categories are there?
There are two categories: Open and Corporate.

If you are signing up as a member of the general public or with a child between the ages of 12 and 18, both ages inclusive, please register under the Open category.

If you are signing up as a company, with both team members being employees of the same company, please register under the Corporate category.

How much is the registration fee?
The registration fee is S$10 (inclusive of 7% GST) per team of two participants.

It includes entry into any event venue that may require payment of an entrance fee on the Event Day.

How do I make payment for the registration?
Payment can be made via Visa/MasterCard at the registration portal at the time of registration.

Race Entry Pack Collection

When and where can I collect the Race Entry Pack?
Collection Date: Friday, 20 April 2018 and Saturday, 21 April 2018

Collection Time: 11am - 9pm, both days

The Race Entry Pack consists of the official event T-shirt and race bib. It is mandatory for all teams to collect their Race Entry Packs on the dates stated above. Requests to collect the Race Entry Pack outside of the above mentioned dates and times will not be entertained.

What do I have to bring along to collect the Race Entry Pack?
Only one representative from each team is required to collect the Race Entry Packs for the entire team. The representative must present the following documents to collect the Race Entry Packs:

(a) NRIC or Photo ID for verification purposes; and
(b) A printout or electronic copy of the email confirmation that was sent to the team upon successful registration.

Disclaimer: The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and the event management company reserve the right to turn away participants who fail to present the required documents when collecting the Race Entry packs.

For Teams Who Are Unable to Collect the Race Entry Packs In Person

If no team member is able to collect the Race Entry Packs in person, please authorise a representative to collect the Race Entry Packs on the team’s behalf. The authorised representative must produce the following documents to collect the Race Entry Packs:

(a) A copy of any team member's NRIC or Photo ID for verification;
(b) A printout or electronic copy of that particular team member’s email confirmation upon successful registration; and
(c) The authorised representative’s NRIC or Photo ID for recording purposes, together with an authorisation form.

On the Event Day

Do I have to arrive early or do any pre-race registration?
Yes, participants are advised to arrive at the Start/End Point (i.e. Suntec Plaza, Suntec City Mall) at 6:30 am to collect their Resource Packs, which will contain race essentials.

What do I have to bring along to collect my Resource Pack?
Participants are to bring their Race Entry Pack consisting of the official event T-shirt and race bib collected before event day to collect the Resource Pack. It is mandatory for all team members to collect their Resource Packs on 22 April 2018 upon registration.

Team members must bring along the following to collect their Resource Packs:
(a) NRIC or Photo ID; and
(b) Race bib.

Team members will not be allowed to collect the Resource Pack on behalf of the other team member.

Disclaimer: The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and the event management company reserve the right to refuse participants without the required documents when collecting Resource Packs.

How do participants complete the Amazing Maritime Challenge?
There will be game stations at selected locations, featuring maritime-themed games. Teams can only begin the game when all members are present. Points will be awarded for correct answers or upon completion of tasks, and a game-completion stamp will be issued once the team has completed the station. Participants must make their way to the End Point by 1.00 pm sharp.

All game stations will close at 12:30 pm, and the Game Master will close the game station queue at 12:15 pm. Participants have to submit their game card at Suntec Plaza, Suntec City Mall – Results Station (Start/Finish Point) by 1.00 pm as a team. Winning teams will be determined by the most points collected, provided they have the completed game card with the “game completed” stamps from all game stations.

In the event of a tie, the total time taken by the team to complete the challenge will be the deciding factor.

What do participants have to wear?
Participants are required to wear the official event T-shirt and race bib, which will be provided in the Race Entry Pack, for the entire duration of the race.

Participants are also strongly encouraged to dress comfortably and wear covered shoes or sandals with straps for safety.

Is there a specific route that teams need to take?
No. Teams are encouraged to strategise and plan their own routes when they receive the game locations, after pre-race registration.

Does my entire team have to cross the finish line together?
Yes. Both team members must reach the end point of the challenge together, failing which the team may be disqualified.

Rules & Regulations

General

MPA shall have absolute discretion in determining the rules and regulations of the Amazing Maritime Challenge 2018 (the “Event”). By participating in the Event, you are deemed to have fully read, understood, and agreed to the following Rules and Regulations stated below:

Eligibility
  1. Participation in the Event is open to anyone aged 12 years or older. For the purposes of the Event, anyone whose 12th birthday occurs on or before 22 April 2018 will be deemed to be 12 years of age and so, eligible for the Event.

    You must complete an online registration form at the online registration portal to participate in the Event. If you are under 18 years of age as of the date of registration, you must have a parent or guardian to acknowledge on the Parent/Guardian Indemnity Form within the registration. You shall ensure that all forms are filled in to the best of your knowledge and belief and acknowledge that forms that are incomplete, inaccurate, false or not duly endorsed will be rejected by MPA. No rejection notice will be issued.
  2. You must ensure that you are physically fit and in good physical and mental health to participate in the Event as some degree of running is required.
  3. You must satisfy all eligibility criteria for participation in the Event; be in good physical and mental health, and not have any medical, physical, psychological or other health conditions that could affect your participation in the Event; and not use any prohibited drug or substance.
    Registration
  4. There will be no fee refund if you fail to complete your registration by the stipulated deadline. Further, once the email confirmation indicating successful registration has been issued, there will be no refund if you eventually do not take part in the Event for whatsoever reason.
  5. You must register in teams of two only.
  6. Race bibs for the Event are not transferable and may not be resold for monetary gain or any other consideration. MPA reserves the right to disallow participants who have purchased their race bibs without registering for the Event from participating in the Event.
  7. Upon successful registration, you will not be allowed to change the event category under which you have registered, or change the size of the official Event T-shirt you had initially indicated.
    Rules for the Event
  8. All answers to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) above and the questions themselves shall form part of the Rules and Regulations of the Event.
  9. You agree to obey, before, during and after the Event, all directions, instructions and rules for the Event issued by MPA, its contractors, their sub-contractors, and all of these entities’ respective members, officers, employees or agents involved in the organisation, execution or conduct of the Event (collectively, the “Representatives”).
  10. On the Event Day, 22 April 2018, you and your team member must register your attendance at the start point between 6:30 am and 7.30 am. Flag off will take place at 8:00 am sharp.
  11. To participate in the games at each station, all members of the team must be present. Participation in any game without both team members present shall be deemed to be invalid and in such event, that team will not receive a “game completed” stamp on their game card.
  12. From the start till the end of the Event, you are permitted to travel via any mode of transport. Such travel shall solely be at your own cost and expense.
  13. You must wear the official Event T-shirt and race bib allocated to you for the entire duration of the Event. If you are found not wearing the official Event T-shirt or your own race bib, you may be disqualified at the discretion of MPA.
  14. All game stations will close at 12.30 pm sharp and the respective queues at each game station will close at 12.15 pm sharp. All team members must be present when submitting the game card at Suntec Plaza, Suntec City Mall – Result Station (Start/End point). Game cards must be submitted by 1.00 pm, failing which MPA may, in its sole discretion, choose to disqualify the team of that late submission.
  15. Only teams that submit their game cards by the stipulated time of 1.00 pm will be eligible to collect the finisher T-shirts.
  16. The winning teams will be determined based on the total number of points earned. To qualify, your team must have a completed game card with the required “game completed” stamp from all game stations. Teams without completed game cards will not be considered. In the event of a tie, the total team time taken to complete the entire Event will be the deciding factor.
  17. Winners will be notified via their mobile contact number provided during registration by 1.45pm on Event Day (22 April 2018). All winners MUST report to the AMC2018 official-in-charge by 2.00pm at the Results Station (Start/Finish Point) at Suntec Plaza, Suntec City Mall to attend the mandatory prize giving ceremony on the Event Day. Prizes will be forfeited, if the winning team fails to report to the official-in-charge by 2:00pm for the ceremony. The prize will be given to the next winning team who is present at the prize giving ceremony.
    General
  18. For the comfort, safety and enjoyment of all participants, organisers and officials, you shall:

    (a) respect the property of others (whether such property is private or public);
    (b) respect all other participants, organisers and officials;
    (c) not engage in discriminatory conduct;
    (d) not engage in violent or abusive conduct, whether verbal or physical; and
    (e) comply with all requests, instructions and directions given by MPA and its Representatives, and fully co-operate with all authorities and officials.
  19. MPA and its Representatives reserve the right, at any time and at its or their sole discretion, to disqualify and remove you from the Event should they deem it necessary to do so. This includes, but is not limited to the following circumstances:

    (a) Where your continued presence would be detrimental to or compromises the safety of the organisers, officials or other participants of the Event;
    (b) Where you are deemed to be behaving in a disorderly manner or where such person is exhibiting signs of intoxication;
    (c) Where you are wearing or using articles that display signs or logos that are offensive or promote a commercial or political agenda or purpose;
    (e) Where you are or have been found to have gained an unfair advantage by cheating or by using any other unfair method over other participants.
  20. While every reasonable precaution has been taken by MPA and its Representatives to ensure your safety, you acknowledge and accept that there are risks associated with all activities, whether held indoors or outdoors, and that you shall:

    (a) be responsible for your own physical and mental health and well-being;
    (b) be responsible for your own medication, including any medication for allergies or chronic conditions, if any;
    (c) be responsible for your own safety; and
    (d) not hold MPA and its Representatives responsible for any loss, liability or damage, including personal injury and property damage, loss, cost or expense of whatsoever nature that may be sustained during or in connection with your participation in the Event, except in the case of death or personal injury, where the same was caused by the negligence of MPA or its Representatives.
  21. MPA reserves the right at any time to cancel, terminate, modify, suspend or postpone the Event or any part of it and to modify any of its Rules and Regulations (including those regarding prizes, eligibility or judging criteria) at its sole and absolute discretion, without prior notice and without any liability. In such event, every reasonable effort will be made to inform you prior to the date of the Event. MPA shall not be liable for any loss or inconvenience arising out of or in relation to such cancellation, termination, modification, suspension or postponement, including but not limited to registration fees paid or travel expenses incurred by you.
  22. MPA’s decision in all matters and disputes arising out of or in connection with the Event is final and conclusive, and no correspondence regarding the same will be entertained.
  23. You consent to:

    (a) the collection, use and disclosure to any third parties of any personal information submitted by you, for purposes directly or indirectly connected with the Event, and for other purposes that are stated in the Rules and Regulations or connected with MPA’s functions;
    (b) the taking of photographs or video recordings of your participation during the Event and the use, reposting, reproduction or publication of such photographs or video recordings and any of your social media updates made in connection with the Event by MPA in any manner as it deems fit for the purpose of promoting Maritime Singapore;
    (c) receive notifications of events or other publicity materials from MPA or from third parties authorised by MPA, using the contact details provided by you.
  24. In the event of any inconsistency between these Rules and Regulations and any brochures, marketing or promotional materials relating to the Event, these Rules and Regulations, and all their subsequent variations, shall prevail.
